Soda Player

Soda Player offers all the bells and whistles we’ve come to expect from a media player: extensive support for many types of video formats, automatically get matching subtitles in your language, user friendly interface with simple playback controls. What makes Soda Player stand out is that on top of all that I’ve already mentioned, this media player can open .torrent files, magnet links, and URLs.

Soda Player is available for Windows and Mac. As you can see from the Quick Look video that accompanies this article, this application’s setup wizard literally does everything for you. Other setup wizards let you go over options like choosing where to install the application; this one doesn’t offer any choices, it just installs Soda Player and launches it when the installation is done.

Soda Player has a dark-themed interface that features four big buttons:
1. Open a .torrent of video file.
2. Open a URL, a magnet link or an AceStream link.
3. Make Soda Player my default BitTorrent player.
4. Make Soda Player my default video player.

Making Soda Player your default BitTorrent player and default video player are the only two settings you can play with. There’s no Options or Settings menu for you to access and change the way Soda Player works. Once Soda Player starts playing a video, torrent, or magnet link, the only thing you can do is pause/resume the playback and load some subtitles (if you need them).

At the time of writing this, Soda Player is free software.

Soda Player is free, it is available for PC as well as Mac, it has a user friendly interface, and it can play any video file you give it. But that’s not the best part about this media player. The best part about it is that it can open .torrent files and magnet links.
